I'd like to plant bamboo in my backyard.?

does bamboo grow well in southeast kansas

I'm not sure if it will grow in that area, but I know people that have grown it and it gets out of hand and you cannot kill it off. It will over take everything.

No you dont, my neighbors has it and it is impossible to get rid of.  It has taken over everything and it looks like a weed.  Bad news!

look up 'clumping' bamboo as opposed to 'running' bamboo.... you'll do well to choose from the cluming ones.... running bamboo will take over your yard, the neigbor's and probably the sunny parts of your state!!!...

some of these bamboos are not hardy in cold areas... so choose according to your zone.....

Bamboo is grown around Kansas City so I expect you could grow it in the southeast.  Some varieties of Bamboo are very invasive so do a bit of research first.

Just dont get running bamboo, every body thinks all bamboo is invasive and its just not correct.

Check out the genus Fargesia. Its a cold tolerant clumper that may do well in your area
