  1. At 15 you are out of luck if the money isnt there.  Wait 3 years get a job and join a mens league or go to pickup games at your local rink.  Your gear can run anywhere from a couple hundred(2-3 if you go second hand on the skates and shop around) up  to a few thousand dollars.  On top of that you are going to have to consider the league fee (the league im in charges 325 per 13 week session but that price will vary greatly i would immagine).

Another thing to consider - If you buy your gear now you may out grow it soon and have to do it all over again next year or the year after.

It sucks getting together all the money needed for hockey if you arent "well off" but it sure is worth it.... untill the day after your game when you feel like you were run down by an 18 wheeler.

  2. nah ur past your prime.... but in all seriousness yah just practice and be dedicated. ummmm hockey stuff can get pricey if your looking for high end stuff. but to save some money u could get used pants, shoulder pads and a helmut. Those are bad things to have used, they will be worked in and more comfortable.

  3. go to hockeymonkey.com for all the gear.

im 18 and just starting to skate so i can play soon.

Go for it.....if i can do it    you can do it.

  4. Go for it,  you may be the next Wayne Gretzksy

  5. Just practice a lot and set your mind on what your doing and it should work out.

  6. i know what ur talkin about (i think)...

    i started almost a year ago... i'm 14 now

ALL together with the registration fees, equipment, etc. it adds up to roughly $2000. never too late to start hockey... unless you're like.. 20 and don't know how to skate AT ALL.... very easy to learn if you use ur free time to practice at home, go to the gym or w/e... the rest of my team's been playing for 2 1/2 years and i'm already considered the 2nd best player of the team... at first i played as a defencemen for about 3 months... started getting obessed with ovie and became a left winger...

  7. The hs here, yes, there's only one, lol, has a scholarship fund to help kids defray the cost of hockey. Check to see if there is anything like that at your high school (ask your hs guidance counselor) for that matter, ask the guidance counselor about the whole issue of playing next season. A good way to see if you are any good at skating anymore is to get a pair of inline skates. and hey, good luck.
