I'd like to set up a group for all ages, 0 - 8, and would like a mix of activities. Does anyone run or attend a group & can you share the format, content, etc.?

  1. Since you're not getting any answers I'll just throw in some general observations and ideas about running a group based on what I've seen works. I don't attend any music groups, so this is really general.

Allow a couple of hours for the whole session but only use 30 minutes for the class, leave the rest for free-play. Have a standard start and end routine, like the French class my daughter goes to there is always a start song and an end song and they never change. Vary the contents but not too much, add one new thing and remove one old thing or just modify activities slowly week by week, little kids are comfortable with a lot of repartition.

Then make sure they've got space and maybe toys to play. If they know they've got that to look forward to you should find it easier to get them to focus for the lesson part. Don't put the toys out until the lesson is done of course, ditto for drinks and snacks ;-)
