Question:

I'd like to write a piece of fiction based on fact....?

But I'm not sure whether to write it as a book or a screenplay. It will be for my own enjoyment though, I don't intend to try and sell it. It will be set in 1888. So....book or screenplay? What are the differences in writing the two and which is easiest? I've got no writing skill or experience.

  1. You have probably read more books than you have screenplays so it would be better to write a book.  With a book you can add much more to explain your imagination than you can with a screenplay.  Screenplays are usually the backbone of a film.  Nobody goes out and reads screenplays for fun.  But books are stand alone.


  2. I don't think one as being easier than the other.

    Good results always take hard work and dedication.

    Like the poster above said, you've probably read books so go with that. Although if it is just for your enjoyment, I don't think it matters which you choose.

    Try a bit of both and see which one brings out your creativity.
