Question:

I'll be alright...right?

I am taking Wellbutrin-Sr. In the beginning I was taking 150mg once a day but then my doctor instructed me to take it twice/day. Because I already had some refills from my first prescription, she said she would write me a new one later. I've been taking it twice/day for about 2 weeks now. I realized all of my prescriptions are out and my doctor "conveniently" went out of town for a few days. I tried explaining my situation to the person at her office, but they just told me I would have to wait until she got back.

I will be fine if I don't take it for a few days...right? (I'm thinking 3-7 days)

  1. find another doctor .......it is not acceptable to make you wait

demand to see another doctor or make them give you a new prescription.

  2. You should be alright, yes.  Wellbutrin has a long term effect as well as a short term effect, so its not like going cold turkey off of pain meds or something.

But try calling again to ask if the MD on call can give you a one week prescription.

Sometimes, unfortunately, the office staff do not got the extra mile for you unless you are very specific about what you want done, and  a little persistent.

Its not easy taking anti-depressant medications.  Only you and your doctor can decide if you  are ready or able to go off of them long term.  If you need them, they can have an enormous effect on your ability to enjoy your family, get through your day, go out into society, not be a recluse, and be able to hold a job.  And for some people, they can be a a REAL lifesaver.

Good luck  with the meds and the doctor both!

  3. Well i am not a Doctor or a pharmacist. But do you have a healthcare plan? Like Medco or something. You can always give them a call and ask for a pharmacist advise. Since its for anti depression... im sure they will give you some alternatives that you dont need prescription for and you can get it in your local pharmacy.

  4. they should have an on-call person to do that while they're away. I would really switch doctors if I were you, it's absurd, rude, and just straight up retarded to not have someone on staff that can authorize refills.

Here's an idea: Go fishing, catch a big trout, then when the doctor gets back, slap her across the face with it.

that's what I do and it always works.

  5. Yes you will be fine.  You may even realize that you don't actually need it after all.....
