I'll be flying next month and have to spend 5 hours on Miami. Any ideas? Is it possible to visit anything?

With only a 5 hour layover, I would highly advise against this.  First of all, you're probably talking about 50/50 odds that your flight actually arrives on time in the first place and that you actually have this much time.  Second, upon arriving back at the airport, you would have to go through security once again.  Third, you will be arriving in Miami in the afternoon in the summer - this is our rainy season, and the weather is not likely to be good.  And Miami traffic is notoriously bad.  Miami does not have a well-developed public transportation network, so you would be depending on a bus or taxi to get around during that period.  All in all, really not worth the risk of missing your flight!

You can leave the airport and go explore the city, but you have to go through a security checkpoint to get back to the terminal once you leave the airport. If you have carry-on bags, you'll have to bring them with you.
