This will be my first time in Italy and planning to spend a week in Rome, can you please tell me what to do (day by day) there?

Really appreciate your assistance.

Thank you.

  1. Not really. There is so much to do and see in Rome. I have been there twice for a total of 12 days and there is still a lot I haven't seen or done. Spend some money on a good guidebook. Eyewitness is good.

  2. if you want some gelato one of the best places is by the Pantheon. when you look at it is one of the streets on the right. I must say amazing gelato!!!!!

  3. I went there last summer,and kept a diary,this is what i did;

colosseum(if you pay for a guided tour, you skip the queues)!!

trevi fountain(lots of lovely cafes nearby)

circus maximus(very near to the colosseum)

saint angelo's castle(next to the river)

    spanish steps

    pantheon

    vatican city

    forum

I managed to do all of this in just 4 days, whilst walking around in the unbearable 42 degree heat!!

I'd advise you to get a 2-day ticket on the rome open tour bus.

It is very reasonably priced, and takes you around all the major attractions, where you can get off and explore.

Also, included in the price of the ticket to the colosseum is a guided tour around the forum, which was FANTASTIC!!!

If you want to visit the vatican city, there is a dress code-your shoulders must be covered,no shorts are allowed, and skirts must be over-the-knee.(this was very hard due to the heat, but i soon stopped complaining when i got inside)!!

I hope you have a great time, and fingers crossed it isn't too hot for you!!

  4. Why don't you buy a guidebook now, and work out an itinerary based on your interests.  What others say is a 'must-see' might be pretty boring to you.  Are you interested in art, musuems, Roman history, church history eg Vatican and other monuments, shopping, food?

  5. The Vatical City, Sistine Chapel, The Catacombs, the Patheon, The colleseum, The Spanish Steps.

    HAVE FUN!!!

  7. Rome is an absolutely beautiful city.  I'm not going to map out your vacation but here are your must sees -

-Coliseum-Big and awe-inspiring. Take a guided tour, you learn much more. Historical facts are much different to what Hollywood portrays what happened there!

-Trevi Fountain-Trevi Fountain was marvellous - bigger and more ornate than anticipated. Best early evening when getting dark and fountain is lit up.

-Vatican -An essential to a visit to Rome. Larger than expected. We even heard the Pope say mass - quite unexpected. Worth a visit to the dome. Sisten Chapel great but long, long walk through museum to get there is a real trial, especially if you are not too good at walking

Also try all the food there, everything is so good.

Have fun and enjoy everyday of it, it was an unforgettable experience for me

  8. First of all you take one of the City Sightseeing Busses so you will get an "overall" view of the city.

I have been to Rome 3 times... never get enough of the city.

The obvious choices are the The Forum Romanum,  Colosseum, The Vatican, St. Peter’s Cathedral and The Vatican Museums,  The Sistine Chapel, the beautiful piazzas, Piazza Navona,

Fontana di Trevi,  Spanish Steps, Pantheon (yes, yes, yes),...

your week will be over...FAST !!!!!
