I'll be spending the next 6 days in the UK and want to use my electrical devices there. What do I need to use to convert their power to US power, if anything?

  1. I'm not sure where the person above me got 125V for the UK from but anyway. The UK like other parts of Europe runs on a 230V 50Hz supply of electricity from the national grid.

A 120-volt electrical appliance designed for use in North America or Japan will provide a nice fireworks display - complete with sparks and smoke - if plugged into a European socket.

http://users.pandora.be/worldstandards/e... will give you all you need to know about different voltages.

To use your electrical appliances in the UK you will need an adapter plug they are relatively cheap but make sure you get US to UK, so there should be three protruding prongs that will fit into a plug socket and the two holes in the other end that you would see in a US socket.

Also if you have an electric razor and intend to use it in the UK make sure you plug it into the right socket, most shaving sockets in the UK will have 110V and 230V make sure you pick the one thats right for your razor.

If you're unsure about anything, go to your local travel agents and they can give you more information and then visit your local electrical goods store and they can tell you which adaptor plugs are best suited for your use.

    Hope I helped. =]

  2. just go to like target and they have a package you can buy, pretty cheap, that is a converter and you put that into the wall in the UK and then you are able to use your electronics

  3. First answer is correct...   But be advised  some of your appliances are not rated automatically for the  UK  Alternating current (AC)  output.     they will  have a switch on the back that ask you if you want    110v   or   125v ( i think is UK)    so make sure if you have that selection switch that you handle yo business ...  good luck.
