  1. 1.The weather in Switzerland around that time is chilly, but not frozen. I would recommend a nice jacket and long pants, however I myself visited the Marriott Hotel in Zurich in October and it was warm enough for shorts.

2.Some must see places besides Zurich are:

Basel- for its rich historical background, and for your time there, I really recommend the Herbstmesse fair that they put on every year from mid-October to mid-November. It is a fun almost carnival-like experience that you cannot forget. If you are a party animal, Basel is full to the brim with nightlife and other interesting activities.

Geneva- for its even more rich Church history. Being the cornerstone of modern day Protestant belief, the town is very important to modern day historians. Also, this town is the second largest in Switzerland and is also full of many things to do, and places to eat.

Interlochen or anywhere in the mountains is also a must see. I live across the border into Germany and love to look out at the beauty of the Alps, however being in them takes your breath away. There are many different activities during the summer that take place there, from mountain biking, to paraglyding, to hiking...etc

    3. Having visited, but not stayed in the hotel, I would be limited on my ratings, I think that this hotel is world class and it is very accommodating with a great view of Zurich.

    4. This is hard, if you plan to spend a good deal of time in the mountains I would recommend a car, however for visiting major cities and other things within Switzerland, the SBB train system is by far the better deal. I use the trains on a regular basis and can confidently say that they are very easy and swift and efficient.

    hope this helps...
