My question is;

What's a better idea, paying cash(american $) or pesos(I'm Mexican have no idea how pesos work) or should I just use my atm card(I don't like this idea-I'm afraid I might get too drunk and over spend)

so would it be better to use american$ or pesos

your ideas will help out a lot

thanks

  1. 10.953 is the exchange rate.....so almost 11 pesos make $1

    Most everything is going to be in pesos. I would use American dollars...they prefer the US dollar. Just know the exchange rate!

    I've been to that area 3 times and used American money each time. You can use a debit also at restaurants or for a hotel tab!

    HAVE FUN!!!!

  2. Hola.  I live down here and usually use the ATM's for any of my cash needs.  I would recommend bringing a few dollars US with you, just in case you run into a few incidentals before you can find a machine.  Also important to note, the ATM's give Pesos, not dollars.  If you use a credit card in the ATM, the companies give the best exchange rate usually better than the mexican banks.

    If you think you won't be able to control yourself while drunk then I guess you will know what works best for you.  I would think in your situation, it would be a worst idea to bring a whole wad of cash with you down.

    Have fun.  Its great down here.

  3. You are going to be in Mexico, not the US.  Use pesos.  You can exchange before you go at any bank (some you have to notify ahead of time, so they have the correct currency and amount available.)  There may be a small fee for the exchange.  They can also explain the exchange rate to you so you are aware of what you are actually spending.

  4. use pesos.

    dont take your cards or large sums of money with you in public if you can help it.

  5. Don't worry, either are equally accepted.
