I'll give China an 11 for the Olympics - Your vote ????

Question

I really thought China did a fantastic job , start to finish with the olympics.

Opening ceremony was unbeliveable. venues were fantastic - Just an all around fantastic job that deserves a riound of applause.

I would give them 8.  Minus 1 for gymnast scandal.  Though it's not proven, they should've done more to put the issues to rest.

And minus 1 more due to putting up a lipsynching girl on the podium.  Even though the director has full creative direction, he should not have put a pretty girl in place of a girl who can sing.  Either put the singer there, or get another prettier girl who can sing, though perhaps not as good.   In hindsight, I guess the director now realizes that this was not a good idea afterall.

They came they saw they conquered. They did a fabulous job all around. The thing that our Canadian journalists are talking about the most was the way the spirit of the Olympics was infused among the populace. Everywhere they went in Beijing, there was a banner or a symbol of the Olympics. Everyone was smiling on the streets and helpful. Even those in charge of security would be happy to help people find their way around town.  Everyone seemed so sincere to welcome the world in. Can those of us countries who have hosted previously say that has been the case with our cities?

opening ceremony : perfect for an audience- probably cost a few chinese lives in "sacrifice" for mother china

pollution: horrendous

obvious and oppressive security presence: poorly executed- even they admit that

media coverage: ridiculous at best, government controlled lies in reality. They didn't even cover Michael Phelps and his astounding Olympic feats.

Venues: inspiring, original yet asian centric and communal (showers in visible view in water cube?)

Event execution: horrendous. is there a judge they didn't pay off? Gymnastics was a farce! Forging government documents? is there anything this government won't stoop to do?

Bottom line: noone questions the Chinese ability to stage a show- they may be the best at it. But as far as integrity and honesty they rate a fat 0.
