Magic the gathering, solely and not yugiyo or pokeman or wrestling or any of that other, dare I say it, yes garbage! To be honest, I've never played yugiyo but from watching the cartoon, it just seems like, whoever gets the most powerful creature out can dominate. Magic has never been like that. I just cringe every time I walk by a card shop and see yugiyo and other c**p in the windows. It just seems like a simplier mans game. I've slowly been converting, and introducing young yugiyo players to the master piece that is magic the gathering. I just wanted to see the hardcore magic players out there. So, I guess in your minds, which is the better game? Magic or Yugiyo, and yes I'm probably spelling it wrong, and I dont care.

  1. first of all you arent spelling yugiyo wrong and yugiyo sux thats why i quit. i needed more strategy, so i could only win in strategy games which arent popular at all so i couldnt play fun games.  ive never tried magic because i thought it was like yugiyo but i might have to try

  2. MtG beats out every game, hands down.  YGO sucks, I've been a Magic player all the way, and MtG ftw!!!  Btw, MtG's one of those games that is easy to play, yet hard to master.  If you're just starting, I'd recommend picking up a theme deck for only $10, then slowly update it with boosters

    Welcome to the Real TCG

  3. MtG all the way!!! I love it. The only thing that I think is getting obnoxious is that people are paying hundreds to collect a card from online. Seriously, if I had hundreds of dollars, I'd want to have the card in my hand.

  4. I've played both extensively, but I was originally a Magic: the Gathering player ( 9 / 9 artifact-creature "Draco", anyone? ), and for quite a long time I resisted the change, denouncing even the ever-popular Pokemon cards ( though very few people collected those with the intention of actually playing ). But my stubbornness ended eventually when I, stuck at a crappy Communion party with nothing to do, ended up playing Yu-gi-oh with a cousin.

After years of experience in both games, I gotta say, despite the opinions of you and your "converts", Yu-gi-oh is the better game. Of course, I doubt you actually wanted to hear a real answer, you just want to gather Magic fans to criticise Yu-gi-oh ( even so, perhaps you could give it the respect to spell it right ); simplicity, whcih you cited as a flaw, is Yu-gi-oh's greatest asset - its so easy to learn, yet still endlessly entertaining.

Again, I'm not saying Magic is a bad game, and in fact I'm happy to see it getting some attention again, but of the two, I've gotta say I'd go with Yu-gi-oh any day.

Still, I guess my real point is, more importantly than "which game is better", is that you shouldn't be so eager to down something which you've never tried ( for the record, the game played in the Yu-gi-oh cartoon and the game played with the cards are ENTIRELY different, and getting "the most powerful creature" is neither the recommended path to victory nor a particularly easy task ).

Before you try to convert others, give ol' Yu-gi-oh the good ten-second try, a real try ( don't go into it with intentions of hating it ); from one Magic player to another, I think you'll like it.
