Question:

I'll put this another way, did anyone else like McCain's speech much more than Palin's?

I did not enjoy her speech in the least, I thought it was very spiteful and aimed to pit people against each other.

I really enjoyed McCain's speech and found it to be more unifying and accepting of everyone.

  1. His was better but that doesn't mean it still wasn't a snooze fest. That's why they had to keep cutting back to 'Nam, to keep everyone awake and on their toes.

  2. McCain isn't known for great speaking, but he was very passionate.  And I believe it was the first time he personally spoke about Vietnam.  He is normally very quiet about it.

I also saw their adopted daughter from Africa there that Cindy saved, looks like she is doing well.

Palin had a job to do in her speech.  Show the differences between Obama and McCain and attack the Democrats.  That's the typical role of the VP in any election so the candidate doesn't get dirty.

About 1/3 of Obama's speech was attacking McCain.  McCain didn't attack Obama at all.  He talked about differences in policies and was much more specific that Obama.  Obama has problems with specifics.

Palin was charming, introduced herself and her family to the Republican base and then punched Obama and Biden in the face using mostly Bidens words.

    Different speeches with different goals.

  3. Neither, the both Fearmongered, "Cheesy" joked there way to applause and some weren't even clapping at times...  The GOP is out of answers and no vision for the future..

That is what happens when you sell your soul for something in this case: IRAQ WAR spending....

  4. they both were ok i thought and i think considering they had 72 + hour campaign to destroy her family she was rather subdued

  5. McCains speech was very good but personally, I liked Palin's speech much more.

Nothing puts a smile on my face like hearing republicans bash Obummer and Sarah Palin did just that.  I even had my liberal friend call me yesterday going "wow, I cant believe she said the stuff about Obama."

  6. To be honest, I like Palin's speech more, put she is also a very natural speaker and I didn't know what to expect. I thought her speach was witty, intelligent, and honest. I thought McCain's was grounded and well rounded as far as issues go.  They were very different, yes, but they have different roles and are different people. No doubt about it though, their love for this country definitely showed through. And I would hope that the individual running for president would come across as "accepting of everyone"!!! They are a good team and are going to do great things for America for sure!

  7. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with either.

  8. Yeah. I'm a libertarian Republican and I am liking him more and more!

  9. I liked both together, but I did really like McCain's focus on "working for you" which is something we need to be hearing a lot more of from the government since they do work for us.

  10. How do you like McCain, changing horses in midstream!  From a Conservative Evangelical, he suddenly made a speech that borrowed everything Obama has been saying!  He will do anything, say anything, and vow to anything to get elected!  With McCain, it will be four more years of jobless debt, continual war and high educational costs.  Four more years and the continual possibility of being left with a Prom Queen for president!

  11. I needed No-Doze for both of them.

  12. I liked John McCains - it was good.  Sarah Palins was Great.  One thing to remember, not all people are great orators.  This doesn't mean thay are not good thinkers or leaders.  Not everyone is great when it comes to standing before people and speaking. anyone who has ever had to do public speaking will know what I mean.

  13. Both were without substance... they are telling you that they intend to steer the course... that their energy plans are to focus on the supply side of Oil rather than making the odes of their plans to shift to alternative energy... Brazilians saw it and did it.  We need to do something thats ahead of the curve.  Something that will really change things for

America.  McCains plan will leave us dealing with the same problem next year and the year after.  Believe me if we open up no off shore sites, the Oil companies will continue to drill.  They are just using this to secure more sights.  Every rig they have is drilling right now and is scheduled for several years.  Even if we give them the sites, they don't have the rigs.

But this is just the surface.  Everyone complains about washington and now your thinking about supporting someone that is the epitome of why it doesn't work in **** present form.  We need some one fresh and new that isn't corrupted by the powers to be.  All the promises the two of them are making are the same as they made in 2000 and 2004.  Even when they had the power, they fixed nothing... time for real change.

  14. I did. I thought his speech was better than hers.

  15. Hers was ok but the hype surrounding it made it hard to meet expectations. Then again she is the VP candidate so they never can really sell the ideal.

McCain's was good. He laid out what he wants to do, who he wants to work with and more of a call to action for everyone to step up to the plate. I was thinking great he is going to talk about the POW thing again. But hed did it in a good way and explained how that was a changing point in his life. He even said he was broken by the guards. But his fellow POW's offered him encouragement. That spoke volumes.

Obama did not offer anything like that.

  16. not really!

  17. I too liked McCain's speech. He should have delivered it 8 years ago.

    Gidget was snide.

  18. ALL POLITICAL RED TAPE SOUNDS THE SAME TO ME.

  19. I loved both! I loved how Palin winged it after her telepromter broke. Obama would have gone into one of his famous stuttering jags!

McCain is not a fiery speaker. He just gets up there and tells it like it is. You don't feel the B.S. meter spiking like when Obama talks.

  20. I fell bad for John McCain and I see him as a very bitter angry old man that will start WW3. Did I hear him say he wants to start c**p with the Russians?

I am afraid WW3 is inevitable very shortly after John McCains inaguration day...

Good thing Sarah Palin can lead us all in a prayer.
