  1. I was wondering if this was a custom template for you?  A great deal matters on the water conditions (type of surf and size) as well as being a front or back foot surfer (turning style), skill level, etc. Furthermore is this board for competition? If so, the glassing is done thinner with fewer layers.  In other words it won't last too long.  You'll cave in the deck.  I'd recommend something in the 5-10 to 6-2 range.  Floats well, easier to paddle., and pick off waves.   What kind of tail?

  2. Depends on what kind of waves your chasing.  Check out Merrick's website and see what suits your style and preferences.

I didn't see the s-core or A6 on the site, so maybe they aren't so new (or maybe too new).  I searched the web for them, and it seems to me that the A6 is a better all around board.

I like the retro boards Merrick makes, but my surfing is from the old school.

You're 5'6 and only 13, so i'd go with something probably along the lines of 5'"-11 to  6'0".  Don't want to out grow your board too fast.

You can also check out the Surfer mag MB or surfline or other MBs out there, as I saw many with opinions on the Merrick boards you are asking about.
