Question:

I'm 13-14, And Need A Job?

Hi, I am 13 right now but in December I'll be 14. I really need a job right now though, because I need the money and then people will get off my butt about being "lazy".

I'm sure if I had a job I could work hard at it and prove everyone wrong, and make some money while I'm at it.

So I'm wondering what kind of 2nd rate or hopefully first rate jobs a 13-14 year old can get...something other than mowing lawns, shovling snow, walking dogs, or doing paper routes...

Any help would be appreicated. Thanks in advance.

  1. Just wait.

Do things around the house to show them.

Wait until you have to work.

    The economy is terrible.

    :]

    Best Answer please?

  2. u can deliver news paper!

  3. I didn't get my first job until I was 17 and in college, but not because I didn't try (well, except for my last year of high school when I decided to take my senior classes and junior classes together to graduate a year early, but I digress.)

I'd say your best bet is to start some volunteer work now. You can volunteer as a receptionist at some hospitals, or you can do what I did and work a couple of hours every Sunday at a homeless shelter. If you have a lot of volunteer experience, then when you ARE old enough to get a job (and most places won't hire you until you're 16 at least), you'll have a better chance of being hired over another 16 year-old who has no experience with anything whatsoever.

And if you're doing volunteer work, especially if it's for a good cause, your parents would be insane to call you lazy!

  4. although  you are old enough to work at 14 most employers have a strict policy where the employye must be at least 16  unless you know a family membder or someonte that owns there own business but your young focus on school

  5. Problem is that most jobs can't be got until your 14 and even then you cant get some til you 16 or 18 and it gets easier to find a job when your 16 and until then its best to just do other things like paper rounds and children care just to get some experience and even charity work or something like that.

You can't legally be employed at 13 so there is no real point in trying to get a job now. Shovelling snow and walking dogs etc are the only things you could do now.

  6. Wolla bout a paper round?

    NO WAIT, PAPER'S RECTANGLE

    No eyed-dear sorry

    Good Luck though

  7. omg im in the same boat as you. i cant find any jobs! im 14 and im pretty sure thats the legal working age, although some places have polices for other ages (like the job i want) you'll probabaly have to wait till next year to do anything other than what you said, and even then it will be hard, sorry. and boy do i know what you mean about ppl calling you lazy! they do that to me 2... its like WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO!!!! lol

  8. Babysitting?

Or you could just work around the house a little, do your chores without complaining. That would prove it. Your parents might even pay you! Just get some motivation and a good attitude and start helping out. They'll eventually notice and brag about what a hard little worker you are.

    :] Good luck!

  9. Well you really can't do much now. Not until you turn 15. You can start applying for jobs regularly at places like Dixies, or theme park places like Six Flags where they hire a bunch of high schoolers.
