I'm 13......HELP!? please help me!?

ok..i'm 13 and i really want braces..we don't have insurance to help pay for some..how fast can i get insurance or whatever?...just please help me come up with a way to get some braces...money is kind of tight right now...but i really want them..plus i have temporomandibular disorder(TMJ) so i really need them as well...please and thank you.....HELP ME!

Braces are expensive, especially without insurance.  Some cities have dental clinics where they charge the patient depending on their income.  Have your parents look into it for you; I doubt you can do this alone.  Look in the yellow pages under dentists and see if there's a dental referral service.  They may be able to help you find a dentist that will take payments.  My daughter has TMJ too.  She wears an athletic mouthpiece (like football players wear) to bed at night so she won't grind her teeth and make it more painful.  It's a lot cheaper than the mouthpiece the dentist wanted to make for $400!

Well I'm not sure. Theres nothing I can do for you. If money's tight, sorry, nothing that they can do.

I have TMJ for about 6 years now, and what you can do is when you are going for a check-up with your dentist, ask for a mouth guard. I was going to get one, and instead of sending me to a specialist, he was just going to get a cheap one. Like the other answer said, instead of paying $100 for a mouth guard, you can get one for who knows how much cheaper and it does the same thing.

well maybe ur parents can get a job that comes with insurance. and TM  really hurts so i feel bad for u

Have your parents apply for public assistance. If your income is low enough they will pay for all of your dental bills. Good luck.
