I'm 13 and I want to become an actor? how do i start it all out?

I'm going to audition in a couple of musicals at school and join the drama club in high school. I want to audition for films or a show but I don't think my parents could find a acting audition near us. (we live in indiana) Is there a way I could become an actor without auditioning and going to college? Thank You

Of course it is possible, and even recommended by me, that a person can become an actor without going to college.  You do have to audition for roles, for agents, and for acting classes however.  Your experience in high school and community theatre will prepare you for that. Your other answers tell you about some of the  opportunities in Indiana.

Take lessons, get an agent, but don't focus on the fame.

Take acting classes, either through school or at a drama school after school or on the weekends. Your local community center may have classes, too.

Then when your instructor thinks you are ready, ask what is available to audition for -- if your parents will allow you to. There will be college students making movies for school that will need actors to work for free in their movies. There are film schools in every state, even Indiana. = ) There may even be high school film students looking for actors. This can give you experience to help you to be ready in case an audition for a paying part comes around your area.

Often casting directors, film students, etc will contact drama schools looking for actors, especially kids.

Sign Up to an Agency

if you go to google and type up 'Indiana Acting Agencies' something shool pop up

thats always good

but then you would need a few headshots...

it just kinna goes from there..

i am 14 and looking for the same exact thing..

you cant rush things though...start out small and get bigger

Take lots of acting classes. I know there's great acting classes in Chicago (I take them, duh). But if you can't drive weekly to Chicago, there's summer acting camps you can do (like at Second City).

But I'm sure there's acting classes in Indiana, just google it.

Do lots of those plays, experience is sooo necessary - you could call Film Colleges to see how you can audition for student film.

Get professional headshots and write up your acting resume (you can google that to find out how).

Then once you have lots of experience and training, mail your headshots to agencies (there are no legit, reputable agencies in Indiana)

There's a lot in Chicago though!
