  1. Get a hard tail and watch you tube.

  2. Hardtail for a number of reasons:

    (1) Hardtails are lighter, so you'll be able to move faster and be more nimble,

    (2) Hardtails are less expensive. For your price range, you are unlikely to find a dual suspension bike that has decent components and a good frame. For the same amount of money, you can get a hardtail with more reliable and better grade components as well as a quality frame,

    (3) If you are just starting out, you probably don't need dual suspension anyway. Get comfortable with a hardtail and learn the basics. Once your skills are more advanced and you find a need for rear suspension as well, then you can consider a dual suspension bike,

    (4) You probably still have some growing if you're 13. Wait until you level out on your growth and then invest in the more expensive dualie.

Go test ride a few bikes and see what you like.

I'm sure you can find videos on YouTube.
