It depends on where you're going to fish. I know along the California coast its not til you're 16 but different places have different rules. And sometimes it even depends on what you're fishing for. You probably should contact Parks and Recreation if its a Lake and most takle stores or even WalMart can tell you more. Have fun!

depends on where you live.here in Michigan anyone under 16 can fish without a license.check with your state game agency.i just checked the dnr website and anyone 12 or older needs one.

Depends on your state - some require 13 year olds to have licenses as well.  Contact the local Fish and Wildlife office, the local sheriff or the local Bureau of Land Management.
