I'm 13 so am I considered an unaccompanied minor in United Airlines?

  1. As long as you are under the age of 18 and are traveling alone, you are considered to be an unaccompanied minor by United Airlines. However, you don't have to pay for the airline's "unaccompanied minor service" unless you and/or your parents think you need it.

    I think it would be a good idea to pay for it, just in case your flight is cancelled and you get rebooked on a different flight. The service will assign somone to help you get your new boarding pass and find your gates, etc. But, as I said, it's up to you and your family to decide.

Actually no, not on domestic travel within the United States....anyone 12 or older is not considered an Unaccompanied minor and may travel alone without paying the Unaccompanied minor fee.  I however encourage all parents to pay the fee....then the child will be with someone at all times...which is good in case of delayed/cancelled flights.
