Ever since I was 9, I've taken a deep interest on Global Warming and the enviroment. I've always recycled and done things like that to help out, but I want to do more. Is there anyway I can maybe like set-up a club in my township that goes out and helps parks clean up and do things like that? I really do care and it always drives me crazy when I see people throwing trash on the ground or into a pond. It's like they don't understand that they're making it so much worse for themselves, other humans & animals, and especially our planet.

  1. recycle and pick up garbage

  2. get a better hobby

  3. It sounds as if you've been severely brainwashed.

  4. You should consider volunteering at local recycling centers or environmental centers in your city or town.  Your family might be able to help you or your teachers at school to locate some organizations that you can join or volunteer.  The idea of starting at your own school is good too and you can then get some other kids together with the same interest.  Also, environment is spelled with an enviro"n"ment.  (sorry, I'm obsessed with spelling).  Good luck and have fun.  It's nice to find something that you really have a passion for and this is a hot topic (no joke intended).

  5. At 13 you are deffiniatly on the right track.

Take a look at Papercreate. It is a usable product entirely made with recycled products, ie. paper, water and only about 20% portland cement.

    Look at the following sites.

    www.livinginpaper.com

    www.papercreaters.net

and of course my site which has an article on building an HPV (Human Powered Vehicle).

    www.websbylarry.com

  6. I have the same hobby as you! I write letters to groups, earn money to donate, and I am also the environment corrdinator at my school. Get your whole family involved. RECYCLE. USE COMPACT FLORESCENT LIGHT BULBS. AND MUCH MORE.

  7. well i take interests in the environment too, but not many people do. i went alone to clean parks and plant trees. because u prolly couldnt find many peopleto help. i tried my school too, there wasnt anything they could do. if ur passionate enough about it, ud have no prob doing it alone. good luck

  8. The first thing is to learn to use the Spell Check feature.  Adults might take you more seriously if you spelled your words correctly.

  9. One of the best things to do is to go to your school principal, take your parents and friends and their parents,  call and ask for an appointment to sit down and talk about setting up recycling bins outside your school. All papers, old notebooks (cardboard and heavy cardstock type) can be recycled. Glass and plastics used in the school cafeteria can be recycled. Etc. etc. If the example is set in schools and practiced by schools, it will be taught and learned and carried on long after school is over.

  10. Good for you. In most states you can contact your city or Dept or Transportation and adopt a piece of road or a park that you and your friends can keep clean.

Study in school, keep an open mind to all ideas. Some people who say they support the environment have other goals in mind.

Glad you are so mature but don't get too obsessed with one thing. That's not good for your development even if it is for a good cause.

  11. When some one you see throw some thing down you can go over (be for they leave) let them see you pick it up and throw it in the trash, I saw a lot of this in TX I would walk my dog  the dog that some one abandoned (may I add) and I would pick up trash a long the ocean, parks, walk ways you will get the message to people very fast because of your age it might even embarrass them keep the good work up that's the best advertisement you can do

  12. There are many things you can do.  You can become a conservation volunteer by going to DCNR@state.pa.us website to sign up.  This way you can help at state parks to clean up litter, do trail maintenance and other helpful activities.  You can always put out the word and get others involved.  Do you have any state parks near you, and if you do contact their environmental educator for more ideas.  Stay positive and don't give up.  You set the right example and others will follow.  Contact me if you need more help.
