Although I'm only 13, I took a Red Cross Babysitting Course and am a well-trained certified babysitter. I can be a babysitter, but I live with 5 dogs, so I'm very good with animals too. I keep myself clean and collected, and yet have never had a single job offer. HeLp Me!

  1. Go to small grocery tsores and pin up flyers with your phne number, make it so people can rip off your little number  and have available times listed. Make it colorfull and original but not off the wall, put your qualifications on there and make it look professiona; and business like, and maybe your picture with a smiling baby. You can do this on the computer Got to small grocery stores, health food staores and stuff as well as larger ones and also pet stores and places that you think a mother will go like baby clthes shops and stuff like that. Also go to laundry mats and all sorts of plces, it make take some time but if you dedicate a couple of days this week to rifding on your bike or asking someone to drive you to a list of good places you can get it done. look up your phone book all local palces that a mother or family will be going, maybe toystores and kid places too. If you get your name in as many places as you can than someone is bound to see it. Alsotell friends and neighbors. First step is to design and print all your advertisements. Like I said make it colorfull and professiona; with little play blocks or soemthing on it but not too crazy. MAke it look like the advertising labels of baby products that most mothers trust like , Fisrt care or Gerber or other things that catch mothers eyes. You just have to go to the baby aisle and copy their stuff. Pinks and baby blues and cute things are good. Also you should make it known that you cna handle older children too ,but do it subtely, don't just say, "Ican handle old kids too!!!" So pretty much the most important thing to get the job is to make an original catchy flyer that says " I am prfessional and resposible and will take care of your child" and than get these flyers in as many ;locations as you can, even fitness gyms and coffee shops and evrywhere you can think of that your ideal clientele will be at. Look up local rates and go off of them and be somewhat flexible but don't get gyped, make sure it is enough that you are not wasting your time. Other than that, live up to your promise, be professiona;, look over your red cross hand book and be ready for ythe worst case scenario. Learn to cook and clean and make the people want you to come back over and over. If you do really good and get out the word and enough advertisements you could make quite a bit of maoney at your young age and start your own business when your old enough. Or at leat save up and also have great refernces for whatever job you encounter, references are important. Its good to hear a girl as young as you wanting to work. I am 19 and doing landscaping, belive me it is hard and unfullfilling. Also as you get more customers, get some stuff like Bible stories for kidds and classic books like winnie the Poohand stuff yto tkae to the kids and have in your babysitter bag. Invest in your business, you shouldn't show up empty handed but have necessary stuiff with you. Maybe a treat or small reward. But you don't have to bring the kids food. Just be prepared. And ,most of all be resposible, these people will be putting their childs life and safety in your hands, it is not a time to myspace, watch MTV or even any t.v. it is a time to be watchfull like a hawk and entertain and occupy as well as discipline and make sure the kids are doing what they are supposed to be doing. You have to treat it like a very important job becasue it is. Not getting paid to hang out and just let the kids do whatever, or on the other side of things, be an over bearing tyrant that keeps the kids in line by being a bully. and if something goes wrong never hesitate to call the parents or 911 depending on the situation. Better to be fired than have something bad happen that could change your and there lives. So anyways, make the flyers and get your name out, than do the job right. No cutting corners. Oh yeah and make sure your parents meet the people and approve. Always have a cell phone incase of an emergency and don't go to bad neighborhoods or shifty peoples houses. Check in with mom and dad or whoever every once in a while to let them know your safe. Tell them when you will call so they don't worry.
