  1. My daughter is 13. She volunteers at our county parks helping handicapped children sail modified sailing boats.

She is also training to be a certified instructor trainee. They assist the program instructors with the students during summer camps.

They take a leadership training class to learn how to help.

Best of all? The CIT's get into the summer camp programs for free! AND all the time is logged, so it counts towards volunteer- ism on your college application!

  2. Definately! Charities are always on the look out for volunteers. i'm sure a quick flick through your local yellow pages (age concern springs to mind) will provide you with a few opportunites.

  3. if yoy have a local animal shelter, ask there. I'm sure they would be glad of the extra help. vets surgeries also take on volunteers. look through your local paper and keep an eye on notices in shop windows, ect. good luck!

  4. u can put an add in the paper they love to read the paper so that would be my best choices or u can go door to door

  5. Go to the website http://www.1-800-save-a-pet.com/

I know they have volunteering in the united states, you can inquire if they have any idea who you could contact in the UK for the same type of program over there.

  6. Doing odd jobs or babysitting for neighbours does not require a child to have a licence. Other jobs like paper rounds / leaflet delivering / waiting on tables etc do.

Why not pop some flyers through your neighbours doors offering you dog walking services.

Make sure you know the people well and that your parents know who you are dealing with, when you going and what time to expect you back. Do not put yourself in danger or in a position were there could be a misunderstanding regarding trust if you enter their houses. Some elderly people can get confused about where they have put things.

If you take sensible precautions I think it would be really worthwhile and appreciated.

    Good luck
