i seriously need to. PLEASE do not give me BS about how i am going to get skin cancer and get all wrinkly. just please answer my question because i know a lot about tanning beds and i'm not going to get suuper tan.

ok, i'm 14. i'm super pale and i want to go tanning because im going to a private school so i have to wear a skirt. also, im joining a sport and you have to wear short spandex shorts to practice. and i also got a new bikini and i WILL not wear it unless i get tan.

and the thing is that my skin is so light that you can see some veins(gross) and my skin is purple/pink ish.

and i DREAAAM of getting a tan.

and i keep thinking about getting tan like every minute of my life. and i went shopping for an entire day with my mom and i just couldnt ask her.

i dont feel completely uncomfortable asking, it's just that i can't get the words to come out and it never feels like the right moment to ask...like i feel like it's totally random

so whats a good time to ask??? i dont know how!!! i was thinking i could find the right time to ask since i just got this new bikini.

how do i do it? can anyone help me feel better and like it's not weird to start going to tanning beds.

i feel awkward whenever i feel like asking.

my older sister whos 18 has been tanning for 2 years. but dont tell me to ask her because im 10 times more uncomfortable around her and i never talk to her

so i was thinkin of saying "could i go tanning, like *mysistersname* does?"

HOW DO I DO IT!! please help me feel less awkward and push me to do this!!

  1. I have no idea what you wrote past your main question.

    It is simple....

    "Mom, can I tan?"

    Done.

  2. I know you said not to talk about the risks. But your choosing your looks over death... That's pretty stupid.

you don't need a tan bed, no mother wil let their child use one, your 14 and still way too younbg...

Get a fake tan, that's why tey invented them.

But if your that desperat4e just ask.

"Mum, can i please have a tan". Or jsut paly more sports.

  3. What I'm worried about is that you are so pale. I am not giving you BS about the dangers of being pale, I just think chances are you will turn out like a lobster, and that is not pretty! Not to mention, it will take a good amount of time to actually build a tan on light skin like that. I am pretty tan and I never tell anyone...but my skin is very fair naturally. I have spent years looking for a good way to get a tan and I've got to tell you that I use Loreal Gelee Self Tanner. It works surprisingly well! For more money, an amazingly natural looking self tanner is by St. Tropez. It is amazing. I like that version in the spray!

If you must go to the tanning bed though, (since you just got a new bikini) tell your parents you don't want to lay outside in your new bikini without a base tan because it is dangerous with your pale skin, so you want to go tanning for little bits at a time so that you don't burn.

P.S. If you decide to go with the fake tan route...buy latex gloves while you are at the drugstore!!

  4. You could get skin cancer. Is a tan really worth your suffering?

Get a fake tan. It's far safer. And you could buy the product without your Mum knowing.

    Your Choice.

  5. use neutrogena all over self tanning lotion..it really helps

  6. I would get a spray on tan first, then start to go to the tanning bed.

And if your mom ever goes to the tanning place with your sister go with them then ask if you can start.

    Good Luck.

  7. I know how you feel on the whole awkwardness thing.

But yea I think that if you were to just be like hey mom I was thinking, maybe I could try out the tanning beds before sports start up again?

*sistersname* does it and I think that it would be fine if I did too.

  8. don't do it. you'll look better pale, or with a self tan.

once you start tanning, it's very hard to stop and you'll look very unnatural. my sister used to have a great pale skin color, and once she started tanning in a bed she lost the natural look and basically looks like a fake version of herself, but doesn't realize it.

if you're really uncomfortable being pale, then use a gradual self tanner, but don't sweat it. there are more important things in life than being tan, especially since you're so young.

being tan won't make you "beautiful" or whatever it is you want to feel. that comes from within, and has nothing to do with your skin color.

  9. Just grab your Mom when she's not busy and ask her if the both of you can have an important talk and leave it at that.  When she's redy she'll let you know.  Then tell her you checked everything out and tell her what you told us...why you would like to start tanning.

  10. I know a good solution. get fake ones! they work good if you get the pricey ones. Like at the tanning salons they have a spray thing. But macy's should have a good line of tanning sprays and lotions. I worked there and after a couple days, in the makeup dept. I was tan! lol

I have freckles in unmentionable places... from tanning! they never go away! do u really want that? think about it, then try macys it's faster too, and easy with the spray kind. I think Clinic has a good spray one. It might have the word bronzer in the spray too. They will tell you there.
