  1. If you do it right, you will be healthier!

  2. On the contrary, you will be in much better health than other people who eat meat.

Just do research, make sure you get enough of all the vitamins you need, and you'll be fine. Being vegetarian sort of forces you to eat more fruits and vegetables, which are like miracles workers when it comes to health. If you look at the list of superfoods in the link I included, you'll see that they're all vegetarian except for turkey, and the only reason turkey is included is because it's a lean source of protein. But so are beans!

Good luck! And congratulations on deciding to give up things that most people are too lazy or greedy to give up.

  3. Only good effects.  You're a good kid and stick with it.  If only I had realized what the meat industry was like when I was your age.  I could have saved a lot more animals.  By the time you are my age you will have been a vegetarian 11 years!  I wasted a lot of time being oblivious to where my food came from.

Your choice has showed your maturity...A little warning though...Some people on this forum can be very rude to veggies.  They are only rude because they don't understand...or they understand but don't care.

The rest of us are just here to help and support each other though.  E-mail me if you need any help with anything and you take care.

  4. it dosent affect your health as long as you eat lots of protien im a vegitarian myself i literally cant eat meat my somach never got the enzymes it needed to digest it so ive been a vegitarian since i was a baby and i havent run into any sort of health problems caused by it.

  5. That's about the age when i became a vegetarian and i'm now 22.  It can be difficult but i admire your choice.  some things to keep in mind-

    - Be sure to familiarize yourself with the signs and symptoms of anemia and talk to your dr about making sure you get enough iron.

    - Also, it might be helpful to take a multivitamin.  Vegetarians need to make sure they get enough B12.

good luck and congrats on going veggi!

  6. I think that you will be healthy when your older and that its good to be a vegetarian.

  7. No, if your a sensible veggie then you'll be more healthy than the rest of your class mates who probably eat greasy big macs and tacos every week.

  8. Yes, this will effect your health.

How? That depends on your choices and genetics.

Protein is not the only concern when it comes to vegetarianism. You need to make sure you are consuming whole or few processed foods, a variety of types and colors, consume plenty of vitamins/minerals/ AND antioxidents. Don't consume too much cheese as it is high in cholestoral.

Do a lot of reading and try to cook for yourself and good luck! Each person handles this choice differently but stick the basics (watch the fat intake, cholestoral intake, eat lots of fruits/veggies/nuts, take a multivitamin, etc.)

As always, you could consider seeing a dietician/nutritionist that specializes in a vegetarian diet.

    Wish you luck!

  10. Actually that's very good that you are deciding to eat right! But make sure you eat enough protein that could still fit into your vegetarian meals.

  11. Yes it will affect your health. You may find you loose weight as many vegetarians find a big cut in fat (alot in many meats) and a rise in fruit and vegetables which will also give you a lovely boost of vitamins and minerals.

Make sure you get plenty of protein, soya beans chick peas, eggs etc. Some dairy will help too. Also keeping your diet as varied as possible is a very good idea and will keep you happy. It should all in all give good effects on your health!

  12. Yes, it should have a very positive effect on your health.   It will help you not gain weight and also get more vitamins.

  14. If you maintain a balanced vegetarian diet it will have positive effects on your health. Get yourself a couple vegetarian cookbooks and start learning to cook.

  15. I am a 13 year old vegetarian and I dont have a single problem.  I have been a vegetarian for about 3 years and I feel better than I did when I ate meat.  so I really wouldnt have any concerns.
