I'm 14 turning 15 in Jan. and my boyfriend is 17 turning 18 in December. Is there anything illegal about this?

No, it is not illegal.  It is not ethical either.  He should be dating someone his own age.

If you do switch to a sexual relationship (and that can happen very quickly), it does get to be a legal problem.  You cannot legally consent to a sexual relationship until you are 18.  

One thing to understand is that at these ages, it is not possible for you to have an equal relationship.  At his age, he is going to be very good at swaying you to do what he wants regardless of your intents.  He knows this and may do it from time to time.  It is great that you can hold his interest, but his interests are going to move forward in a hurry.  

It would be far better to put this relationship on hold for about 3 years, then decide to come back to it or not.  Those are very big years for you and him.  There is a lot of growing that happens then.

For his safety when he turns 18 he should not have contact with you until you turn 18, 3 years later.  This is a sad fact but true and the law is becoming very strict on this.  Going time is 10 years in prison.

i think your allowed to keep in contact with him and stuff you just cant be bf gf i mean i have a guy friend whos like 18 and the law has never came after me so if its non sexual then it should be a small change and hay if a cop ever says nething about it hes ur brother wink wink lol just kidding

If you have a nonsexual relationship , then it should not bother either of you to always have a third or even fourth person with you at all times . You should have this because the state could still file statutory rape charges against the 18 year old and he could get major jail time out of it , but if you have witnesses to all that yall do , then the state would not have much of a case. You should always too get permission from your parents so that they too know about your relationship . If you really like him you do not want anyone pressing charges against him and sending him off to jail .

ya i think it's illegal to date someone that old while your that young
