I'm 15. Where can I get a job?

I'm a 15-year old girl, and I live in Pennsylvania. I am trying to find a job, and don't know which stores hire 15-year olds. Some stores that I might be interested in working for are CVS, Wegman's, Target, Quizno's, or Panera. Do any of these stores hire 15-year olds? (I tried looking this up on the internet, but couldn't find anything concrete) Any suggestions?

  1. Go to a restaurant and wash dishes.  There are plenty of restaurants around.  Good luck.

  2. in PA, u cant get a job till ur 16 and you have to have  a workers permit from 16 till 18 but if you want a job, you can try your local newspaper company, by delivering papers and with that, you dont have to be 16. or even try  babysitting. those r basically your only options...hope those help

    The Town

    Lifeguard

  4. dish washer or shoeshiner or bathroom attendant or buttwiper

  6. Babysit, like everyone my age used to do when we were your age. According to PA child labor laws anyone under 16 years old is not legally allowed to get a job in many areas. You are allowed to do some farm work (not dangerous stuff), work a newspaper route, work with local landscaping businesses (you're allowed to use lawn mowers), work at a bowling alley or food court (double check their policies, they may not hire you if they serve alcohol), or become a child model (but be warned this is hard work and little pay, and you need to always have your parents there for your own safety). You may also rake lawns, shovel snow, babysit, and do any number of "odd jobs" that you can be paid in cash for.

Honestly, you guys need to be focusing on school work anyway, not jobs. It is probably hard enough for a 15 year old to finish their homework on time and deal with starting to get some freedom and you don't need to ruin your last days of "childhood" (yeah, yeah, you're not "children" any more, I've heard it before) with a job unless your family is starving. I'm sure you can live without spending money or learn to babysit kids in your neighborhood. Babysitting or shoveling snow for elderly neighbors is a nice, flexible starter job that will pay you normally above minimum wage (I made $7/hour several hours a week when I babysat, and that was YEARS ago) and you can use your parents as a reference for it especially if you have little siblings. You can also learn good life skills that way (instead of working at McDonalds getting minimum wage where all you learn is "may I take your order?" and "Would you like fries with that?")

Another option is to volunteer with an organization that you like this year, such as your local library or the Salvation Army and that will give you a solid reference and a starting point for finding an actual job when you turn 16. Good luck!
