I'm 15 (almost 16) year old male, and want to join a gymnastics class. Would I be too late?

I know how to do little of gymnasts, like a handstand, cartwheel, very basic stuff. But I recently got very interested in doing it, and used to do it when I was 3-4.

My question is, would there be any way I could train, or have a class, or something for me, where it's not with highly skilled people, assuming most people my age that do gymnastics would have stuck with it, and would be very good at it.

  1. hey umm call up yer local training centres and see there is a high possibility that u can be in a begginer class but what do i know.. lol.. my sister is in it and she is only 5

  2. They say that you are never too late for anything. Wrong, you are too late for the Olympic levels.

But as a sport for your enjoyment or to become a future trainer. Yes - go for it and all the best. Gymnastics are the most challenging and beautiful categories in sport.

  3. Many gyms do offer classes for older beginners.  And with this being an Olympic year, your chances of finding such a class are even better than usual.  Lots of people become interested in gymnastics after watching the Olympics, and most gyms' phones are ringing off the hook right now.  Chances are, you aren't the only 15-year-old wanting to get back into the gym, so the gyms in your area will probably be adding some classes for people at your age and level.  Just get out the phone book and call around to your local gyms!
