I am loving loads of salt, eating lots of bread, savoury products and stodgy type foods.

I am totally off chocolate and most sweet things.

From 4 weeks preg my appetite bacame huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge and i have filled out all over incluing my hips, its not just a little bump to the front but all round my whole waist line, thank goodness my appetite is going more back to normal now.

What do you all think?

Has anyone else been like this and had a girl?

I dont care what I have, I am just happy to be having one at all xxxxxx

  1. There are no 'signs' of having a boy but some may possibly feel deep down they are having a certain gender and that could be you. But I doubt the fact that you are eating all the foods teenaged boys like to eat doesn't mean your'e having one.

    Good luck with the pregnancy.

  2. well when i had my daughter i craved bacon and crisps and anything salty and savoury. sweet things made me sick also.

its 50/50 whether you having a boy or girl.

  3. Your eating habits dont suggest the gender of the baby, everyone has a huge appetite when they are preggers

  4. There is no way to tell what ou are having dear unless you go have an ultrasound.

Old wife's sales don't meen anything

  5. hmm thats strange Ive always heard it the other way round, that a bump at the front no matter what size is a boy and all round, hips and bum etc would be for a girl! I craved chocolate eclair cream cakes, and chicken when I was pregnant, I had a HUGE bump but was mostly at the front and I had a boy!

  6. Hi well I dont want to put a dampner on things either Im really having a girl which my scan showed me I wasnt or your having a girl if these things are true, as I am having a boy and all I have wanted from the start is sugar things, and cannot settle if I dont have a sweet or savory thing lol, my bump is all out front and my hips are wider but I havent gotten bigger everywhere else like they say you do with a girl. I havent had much of an appetite throughout my pregnancy, only for thing I like now I am pregnant and I have gone off things I used to love like rice etc

and im having a boy, so I think that everyone is different, even thought I had the similar symtoms my mum had with me and im a girl, so maybe the ultrasound is wrong but I dont think it is.,

  7. just because your showing signs of a boy doesn't mean your having a boy.. the only way you will really know is through a sonogram..

just like when people say oh your belly is low or high shaped this and that way.. theres no way to prove what your having by just that.. sonogram/ultra sound/ or 3d is the only key!!

  8. Sorry but those are just old wives' tales.

I craved sweet foods and couldn't stomach anything savoury.  And I had a boy!!

Its just nonsense, theres no scientific proof that the gender of the baby would influence your tastes in food or the shape of your bump etc.

    Wait for the ultrasound.

  9. sorry but these are all just old folks tales i never had any of this when i was pregnant with my son and my m8 had a girl and her bump was all round.

    good luck 4 the future x x

  10. While i can agree that the salty diet led me to have a boy (well 2 boys actually, i liked salty food with both my sons) i had the opposite in regards to body shape, with both my boys i had a small bump, nice and neat out front, you couldn't tell i was pregnant by looking from the back. When i had my daughter i loved lots of sweet foods but my bump was huge and really spread out.

  11. i wouldnt read much into the old wives tales. i look like im carrying a girl but he is def a boy!

  12. Well with my son i wanted lots of cheese and pickle, curry, cornish pasties and bread.  My bump was low down but very neat even in the last weeks when i was huge!!  His heartrate was just under 140 (120-140 for a boy and 140-160 for a girl).  I was also in a really good mood and my sickness although more severe when i was actually sick, wasnt too bad and didnt last past 13 weeks.  However, i still loved chocolate and ate tonnes of pancakes with orange and sugar on . . .with every meal.  So im not sure that what you crave is a definite, although in the early months all i wanted was savoury things.

With my second i was sick for longer, it only died down at 17/18 weeks.  The heartrate was 160 from 11 weeks, my bump is a different shape, quite high where it peaks, belly button popped out a lot earlier (15weeks).  I craved fruit and jam in the earlier days and now have to have a pudding after every meal.  Im not overly mad about chocolate but want a chocolate biscuit with a cup of tea in the evening.  Again though i have a really neat bump and have not put on weight anywhere!  I am 22 weeks and i know that i am having a girl.

In my opinion there must be something in the old wives tales otherwise they would not have been around so long and they are pretty correct for me.  If you want a reliable test other than ultrasound then i would go with the heartrate because everyone i know has found that a good predictor.

Have fun and you must let us know when you know what you are having . . .i love the stuff about old wives tales!  Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!
