  1. it's called cold calling....spruce up ----hair back and really neat--- hands immaculately clean check out the nails are really white--nail white pencil helps and approach restaurants early on opening. You could ring around and check which have alcohol but physical appearance is the best for application. Mobile phone handy so that they can contact you. Be cheerful as extra staff needed for summer time rush but go early before they are busy. Also check out the local papers as some may advertise and you need to make an appointment and be on time dressed very conservatory and cleanly. The hair pinned back neatly out the way so good luck and go to it. Lots of leg work pays off...

  2. the only way to find out is to apply. Cocos is another coffee shop in S. Cal.

I pretty sure Islands & Ruby's serve beer. My daughter worked at Applebees when she was 18 and she got some of her biggest tips from the Marines, stationed nearby, that drank beer.

Get the experience and move up to bigger things. Waitressing is hard work and you can't always depend on people giving you a good tip. I worked at a coffee shop and really worked my tushy off for a table. They left no tip. Other I was just polite and helpful and I get a good tip. (I used my tips to take my fiance to see [first run] Star Wars in the movie theater - I dating my self here).

    GOOD LUCK.

  3. Good luck with the way the economy is...

  4. in california, you have to be 18 to serve at many resteraunts.

you would probably work at a hostess. unless its like; waffle houses of something.

but, hostesses usually make more in their wage because servers get tips.

  5. Generally the restaurants that are good tip locations usually require experience.  I would suggest you start with those that others have mentioned to get experience and then move on.  Do not be surprised if they put you on bussing tables.  Islands serves alcohol and some Ruby's does also.

  6. you will get alot of business at thoses places and tips are really good people come and go pretty quick and a goodsmile will go along way way with folks there make sure you keep coffee and tea ful dont bug them but kep them full
