I'm a girl, I'm 16. He's 17. He was born in January. My parents don't like him, and they keep telling me the age difference makes it illegal. I was born in August. We are so in love, and I really wanna be with for a long time. But is it legal? What about when he turns 18?

  1. it should be legal, just be safe and dont admit to any s*x.

  2. That depends, what state do you live in?

  3. It is absolutely legal. There is not a legal age for a relationship to be legal. The only thing that COULD ever be is if you two were to engage in a sexual relationship. I doubt it would be illegal for you two to have s*x anyway because the age of sexual consent in most states is 16. So go ahead & be with him, the only problem you've got is that your parents don't like him.

EDIT-- The legal age of consent in New York is 16. So you've got nothing to worry about since you are 16.

  4. Being with him is not illegal. Engaging in sexual conduct is illegal.

s*x with a person under 17 is a misdemeanor if the perpetrator is at least 16  (“Sexual misconduct,” NY Penal Law § 130.20)

  5. no its not illegal to be together with him. having s*x with him isnt illegal. i mean the age of consent in new york is 15-17 when he turns 18 it should still be legal if its legal to have s*x now. no matter what anybody says it is legal to date since dating doesnt always involve having a sexual relation. for it to be illegal to have s*x he would have to be over 2 years older than you.

note: dont depend on my answer being 100% true since i dont know the New York Laws but it is not illegal to date. if you want a more clear answer look up the New York laws on s*x offenses. they are accessable to the public

  6. Might depend where you live, but your both minors, and are within one year of each other.

Doesn't sound like anything illegal, just because your parents dont like him doesn't make it illegal.

If you love him, who's gonna tell anyway? Even if it was illegal, how do they prove you had s*x?

  7. Regardless of legality. Please do yourself a favor and get some birth control pills. You want to have a life and a career before anything else. Otherwise you will come to resent any child you may have for denying you that chance.

As far as the age thing goes. The day he turns 18, don't touch him. Depending on where you are, he could end up in jail and its not worth the risk just for a tumble in the hay and a little pickle tickle.

Lostfan - Its very easy to prove. I hope for your sake that you don't ever assume that nobody can prove whether or not you've had s*x with someone.

  8. It all depends on where you live. In some states you're above the age of consent, so it doesn't matter how old  you are. In others there are Romeo and Juliet laws that set a minimum distance in age required for it to be statutory rape. Without more info, it's impossible to say.
