Question:

I'm 16, should I wear contact lens?

I just turned 16 this June. I wear glasses and all my friends are telling me to wear contact lens. But I'm really scared since I have never worn them before and the thought of putting something into my eyes horrifies me. I know this sounds silly but it just makes me feel like this.

On the other hand, I don't want to wear glasses to. Do you think I should wear contact lens if I'm only 16. My skin is kind of brownish and tanned and what colour will suit me the best?

Thanks!

  1. I just had my first contact lense appointment today. I'm 15. I recommend you have an appointment because you can see then if you like it or not. Here in England the initial test costs around £20-£40 but worth it if you go ahead.

    There's no harm in trying!

  2. Today just about everyone can wear contact lenses, and there are more healthful and convenient contact lens options than ever before. Contact lenses are used to correct the same conditions that eyeglasses correct. For all details,  information and remedies about contacts check out http://use-contactlens.blogspot.com/

  3. give them a try. Once they are in, it doesn't feel like you have anything in your eye.

You could always go back to glasses!

  4. You don't have to get colored contact lenses, clear is more comfortable, but you can get colored contacts if you want them. It's impossible to analyze what color would look best over a description on the internet.

With that out of the way, at 16 you can drive a car, you can wear contacts (although you do still need your parents permission). My 7 year old daughter wears them, I put them in for her, but still, if she can do it, so can you (and she's been wearing them for 2 years, although not everyday). We have been telling you for 16 years not to touch your eye and now we are telling you touch your eye, it's a scary concept. Don't worry, most people have that problem. You first need to get your eyes checked, then we will teach you how to put them in and take them out. If you are interested in colored contacts, the doctor will let you try on different colors so you can see what you like best.

Contacts are one of those things you can't let your friends talk you into. The real question here is do you want contacts?

  5. It doesn't hurt at all, it's like putting jelly into your eyes and you can't even feel it. The doctor will show you how to do it. I got them at around the same age, I think when I was 15. I'm 20 now and I'm glad I did. Just talk to your parents and tell them that you want to get them. I would also stick to plain contacts and they only come in clear or with a slight blue tinge to them (so you can see them better).

  6. You should try them, for a little while and see if you like them. They are a lot easier. I've been wearing them since i was 14 and i love them! As for colour, just stick to clear, don't change your eye colour
