  1. if it really bothers you, you can go to the doctors but overall finding a lump in teens is rare. if anything, maybe its a syst!

  2. Lumps can be caused by too much caffeine.

They can also be a lipoma, or fatty lump.  I have these and they are hereditary and ok to leave alone.

Good luck and make sure you mention it to your gyno!

  3. Lumps can be many things, both dangerous and non dangerous

Have your doctor tell you which yours is and you will feel more secure about it.

  4. At your age your chances of having breast cancer are very, very low indeed. It's a disease of ageing - 80% of those diagnosed are over 50, it's rare in women under 40 and it's almost unheard of in under 20s.

Most breast lumps, even in women over 50, aren't cancerous.

Your b*****s are still growing and developing and what you describe may be hormonal.

Or it may be an injury from the wire digging in. BUT injuries and trauma to the breast do not cause cancer and will not increase your chances of getting breast cancer later.

Breast cancer, like other cancers, happens when normal cells change so that they grow in an uncontrolled way. This uncontrolled growth causes a tumour to form. Your underwear cannot trigger this process and has no effect on it.

For your own comfort, get some bras that fit. You doctor should be able to reassure you about all this when you see her.

  5. Get to your doctor NOW

It could be nothing but why take the chance

Could be a cyst but again - see a doctor ASAP

  6. Lumps in b*****s can be many things, including cancer.

A lump caused by cancer in a 16 year old would be very rare!

At 16, the lump is more likely to be a cyst, a fatty deposit, a pressure sore from the underwire or a normal development of your b*****s.

What is important is if the lump is new or changing in some way.

Get it checked by your Dr, and she will probably tell you to go out and get a new bra!  Any trauma to your breast, including underwire poking, can increase your risk of developing cancer at a later date.

  7. Ok, so getting breast cancer at 16 is rare, but it does happen. When 1 was 17, I had 3 lumpectomies and they wanted to do a masectomy, where they would have to remove my breast. So not to scare you but it does happen. So with that said, be sure to have your doctor check it out. There are a number of things that it can be caused from. The first thing that comes up is because of your underwire in your bra. It could also be caused because of too much caffeine in your diet. It could also be a cyst, which is just a sac of fluid, which is very normal and you could either keep it there, or get it removed, depending on how much it bothers you. Another thing really common in younger girls are fibroadenomas. These are non-cancerous lumps in your b*****s. And again like cysts, you can get them removed, or leave them alone. Just depends on how much they bother you. They can get bigger, or they can even go away. If your doctor feels that it's necessary, she may order an ultrasound. Kind of like what they do on pregnant ladies, but on your breast. It's painless and simple. If it appears to be a cyst, they then will probably want to schedule a cyst aspiration, where they take some of the fluid out of it, just to see what kind or cyst it is. If the ultrasound shows that it's solid, they'll probably want to do a biopsy. They take just a little peice of the lump out and send it to the lab to see what it is.

So... with all that said, don't forget to mention it to your doctor ok! If you have any questions or anything, feel free to e-mail me. I've been there, not knowing what to do is very scary. good luck!!
