my boyfriend and his parents moved to australia in march 2008 and i would like to join them next year, i am currently completing my grade 10 year at school and my boyfriend is working 2 jobs in australia so that he will be able to support me when i come on holidays and if i go and live there, would it be possible to live in austrlia next year with my boyfriend and his parents at 16 years of age? my parents have asked other friends of theirs who have also moved to australia if it is possible for me to go at my age and they said that i would have to be adopted- is that true or not? please, i would really like some answers from people because so many people have been putting negative thoughts into my head and i would just like some good news for once? i really would like to live with my boyfriend next year, it will be a better opportunity for me in my education too...

  1. well your too young for a skilled worker visa, and you don't qualify for spouse visa and you don't have close family to sponsor you so i guess adoption is the only chance, but i don't know if that will work

you need to contact an australian embassy and ask

  2. Don't move to another country at 16 without your parents you are much too young. What happens if you break up with your boyfriend here - you Will have nowhere to go. Stay at home and come to Australia when you are older

  3. This is actually not such a difficult situation if your parents are happy for you to come here (and you won't need to be adopted either).

You can come on a student visa if your parents are prepared to make a statutory declaration and complete and sign a form giving permission for you to stay with your boyfriend's parents.

One of your boyfriend's parents (the nominated person) must give an undertaking to provide accommodation for and be responsible for your support and general welfare during your stay in Australia. The nominated person should be physically present in Australia for the period of your intended stay. Depending on your personal circumstances, the nominated person may be asked to provide an undertaking in writing. I would keep your boyfriend out of the permission and support equations if I were you - DIAC may have problems with accepting his involvement.

You need to have been accepted to study full time at an approved educational institution and of course, as you will not be a citizen or PR, you will need to pay full fees for your tuition and satisfy DIAC that you have sufficient funds for your fees.

Towards the end of your high school education, you will then need to apply for a student visa for your tertiary studies. By the time you've finished them, you should be able qualify for a skilled worker visa though you'll need to ensure that your qualifications are for an occupation on the SOL or MODL.
