  1. Yes, when you're 16 you can get your G1 but you must drive with someone 21 or older, then 8 months after taking your G1 you can take your G2 so you can drive alone

  2. It depends on where you are.

If you're Canadian, it depends on the rules of your province - most provinces do but you have to be licenced.  BC you get your 'L' (which BLOWS), in Ontario you get a 'G1', etc etc etc.

If you're moving here and want to get a licence, yeah, you'll have to check it out online and get to your nearest licensing location (in BC, that would be under ICBC).  You do have to be a resident to get a licence.

If you're an American or foreigner wanting to drive in Canada, I think it is legal, but you have to make sure that your car is insured for a trip to Canada.

  3. Yes, you are eligible for your G1, which is a written test. That means you can drive a car with a liscenced driver in the passengers seat. The next step is getting your G2, an actual driving test. That level allows you to drive alone. You have to wait a year after you've completed your G1 to move on to the G2, but if you take drivers education than you only have to wait 8 months.
