I'm 16..can i open up a bank account at Citi Bank?

i don't actually work but i have like over $1,000 in cash and i want to put it in a bank..am i allowed to open up a bank account right now? one of my friend opened up one but she used bank of america..so i think thats different

  1. You can open an account with any bank, but since you are less than 18 years old, it will be a custodial account.  You will need a parent to help you set it up.  If your parent agrees, it can work much like a regular bank account, including an ATM card or a debit card that you can use.  This means that you can easily make withdrawals or deposits to your account on your own.
