  1. I would use Face Hand and Body cream each evening.  After washing with a skin cleanser (Physoderm or Clinique gel skin cleanser) then apply Face Hand and Body cream and leave on till morning, then wash and re-apply the FH&B cream in the morning (gently rubbing it in each time.)

  2. Here is something that I found helps.

Get a canola-oil based cooking spray and spray a 3 to 5 second spray on  some of your food for 1 meal of the day. This slightly alters the composition of your skin oils and reduces acne by reducing the favorable conditions for bacterial growth in the pores

  3. I would go with Flax seed oil from whole foods, not canola. I would also recomend speaking to a dermatologist to get on a low dose of Tetracycline if your acne is real bad, it killed the A. Vulgaris I had as a teenager and mine never came back. The other thing I did which I do not recommend was putting a teaspoon of Clorox clenzing powder (bath cleaner) in a full sink of water and using a towel I put it on my face. I also stopped touching my face and that's when I had my last pimple. Once the swelling is down I was good (swelling causes increased skin growth in that area which causes clogged pores, which causes more acne) and hands on the face will deposit the bacteria from your fingernails onto your face and cause acne. The funny thing about it is that you should be using the rough side of the face towel to scrub, or Buff Puff sponge to the nose usually gets out all the tiny wax secretions from the nose - it removes the junk better then hands and nails. Never touch your face! That's where it all begins. Some stuff that randomly comes to mind would be to control swelling if it's really bad.

I think the idea with niacin is the flushing factor. To get that start at night only with like about 100 mg pill. Powdered form in a capsule is best. Don't buy the no-flush kind. You quickly build a tolerance and stop flushing so the dose would be increased slowly by 50mg after the first week. The Maximum dose that people with total high cholesterol take is 500mg tablet at night. Always at night. It's really embarrasing if you get night vitamins mixed for morning vitamins since it causes you to look blotchy and sunburnt. It may be a pins and needles flush feeling but it's worth the try.

  4. Instead of taking supplement, try find some cleanser/toner product that is compatible with your skin. Product that works for some might not work for you so you need to try. Kiehl rare-earth oatmeal milk cleanser and kiehl tea tree toner works for me. Do not touch or squeeze your acne.

  5. Be very careful with niacin.  Yes, some people report good results with it for treating acne.  However, high dose niacin is also used to treat cholesterol so it has an effect on the liver.

Check with your doctor about how much you can take.  Use the time release variety to minimize flushing.
