I'm 16 years old and need to buy auto insurance.?

The company I'm buying from gives reductions for taking a driver's ed course. They also give discounts for good grades. My grades are usually all As and I took driver's ed. However, I'm still worried about paying. My parents are making me pay for it myself, which I'm okay with, but it seems nearly impossible! I've already bought and paid off a car that gets fair gas mileage and the only money I spend is my cell phone bill (about $13 per month) and DVDs (about $15-$25 per month). I make $512 every week before taxes. Any advice?

  1. Ask your parents to be put on their policy, but you pay the premium for the car you drive. That would be cheaper.

If you must get it in your name, I suggest State Farm. Yea, i work there, but they are the only insurance company to offer Steer Clear which is a 15% discount in addition to a Driver Training (driver's ed) discount- 10%, and Academic Achievement- 5% AND a good driving discount- 5%. You add it up. Mind you, it won't be cheap because of your age, but it will be lower than most insurance companies.

  2. Call around, get quotes. You need to do some leg work on this because each company will look at your record and intended vehicle differently.

see this http://gsx1.com/InsuranceComparison.html it's one form to get a number of quotes from different insurers. It's free and a big time saver, these are all the main American insurers competing to get your business so you are bound to find something that suits you, if it works out remember my points please :)

  3. I thought at 16 you had to be put on your parent's car insurance.

  4. will your parents let you be on there acct. an you pay the difference on the bill alot of ins. places do that. try state farm they are descent. if you make this much money at age 16 you are doing good an shouldn't worry bout the cost cause you make more than the average person per week

  5. You will have to be on your parent's policy and just pay them for your portion. if you make $500 a week you can afford car insurance.  Just do a little bit of research and you will find a rate that is affordable.
