First,i've never worked before.I'm tired of going after what people call "c**p jobs"(McDonald's,kroger,wal-mart,etc) and getting no results. So I obviously need to expand my horizon.I like helping kids and I do love little animals, but I have no formal training in child care or animal care. Also,I don't get out of school til 3:05 and aren't most day-cares closed by like 5 or 6?That wouldn't be very many hours.Any ideas?

By the way,I don't know anybody that works in child care who could help me get a job at one of these places.

I do have interest in child care.I want to either be a nurse that handles newborn babies or a children's dental hygienist.

  1. I've been in your situation before..the best thing to do would be to volunteer at an animal shelter or daycare for a while..after a while they usually hire you and if they dont hire you at least you have some work experience to put down on your applications

  2. Well you have to get a certified license to be a day care worker . But I can tell you most pet stores would hire a willing worker like you. If you really want a job with animals.. look in the paper for pet store. =)

  3. You can look into working with an after school program.  We have a Boys and Girls Club here, but I'm not sure about where you live.  Look online for after school care and programs.  Good luck.

  4. i can't believe you haven't had any luck at the "c**p jobs"  they hire almost anyone.  besides, it's a starting position, you don't have to work there forever, it's experience in the working world and it's money to help you buy the extras you want in life.

as for the jobs you're wanting to get, just go apply at every one in town.

  5. Look in the classifieds section of the newspaper. Also if you go to church or have contact with parents at other places, make it known that you like to babysit.  If you have pet stores in your town go to the store and ask if they are hiring. You may want to check into after school programs in your town  and see if they are hiring. Make some phone calls, it doesn't hurt to ask.  Check with your school to see if they have any job postings, like in the guidance office. Do they offer child development  at your school? Maybe the teacher gets inquiries for responsible teens for babysitting jobs. Just some ideas. Good luck,

  6. sadly, you will most likely find you gotta be 18 for either of those jobs.

However you could get a job babysitting or as a dog walker.

you can check around.. at 17 your choices are pretty much limited to "c**p jobs" as you put it.
