  1. You would need to find an investor. Do you have a rich Uncle? Otherwise it'll be very difficult. It'll cost a lot of money to get this started. Good Luck.

  2. Please stay positive, first off. Maybe you can get a sewing machine for around a couple hundred dollars to start, and perhaps a serger if necessary for probably $500. Some sewing machines have that serger function. You can start by learning to cut out a pattern and sewing it together if you don't know how to do that already. You can take a sewing class. Start drawing out your designs. Get all the books you can on designers and get books on the cost of designing. You can go to design school. When you're good enough, you could start by wearing your own designs and getting your friends to wear some, just for feedback. If it's your passion, pursue it. It would be hard work, but your passion will outweigh it.   Maybe you can talk to representative at a design school for all the information that you need.                          !!!!!! Ignore all negativity. !!!!!!!! :)

  3. You can do this.  The Wall Street Journal had an entire section devoted to setting up your business (last Saturday).   YOu start at godaddy.com (not my website) and set up a website.  Then you advertise your dresses or designs.  Will you make custom dresses?  Or will you make dresses of all sizes and ship the size they order?

Otherwise, you can go into a local dress shop and ask if they will sell one of your designs if you let them keep half of whatever they sell it for. That will be more profit for them than Liz Claiborne offers. Get to work./
