I recieved a speeding ticket going 88 in a 65 coming back from a town about an hour from where I live...I told my parents I was at work but really I was actually very far away, they are really strict about everything I do which is why I am pretty down about this situation. I am trying to get this ticket stuff done so they won't find out... I got the ticket yesterday and signed up for Defensive Driving and started some lessons today, I haven't completed the course yet because I haven't sent my ticket back to the judge asking to relieve the ticket. I am really worried, this is my first ticket so I don't really know what to do does anyone have any advice on what I should do (is it okay if i am signed up doing DD now before i get the ticket relieved)? what I should send? If i should tell my parents? what is the process is like?

PLEASE leave your responses it will make me feel so much better.

Thank You

  1. previous response is correct.  you need to get dd finished and get the ticket cleared before your insurance policy renews.  otherwise, its over for you.  best to just tell your parents because one way or another, they will probably find out.

  2. A speeding ticket will be hard to hide from your parents, especially if you are being carried on their insurance. Let me give you the best advice that I know. Go to your parents and fess up. Yes, they will be angry. Can you blame them? But, they will also know that you are facing your problems like an adult. Believe me, moms and dads have been 18 and done some stupid things also. Tell them and after they come down from the roof they will help you make a good decision.Honesty is always the best route to take. Good luck

  3. A speeding ticket can be really hard to hide from your parents, expecially if your still on their insurance, its hard to say if it will stay on record , you might be able to get it relieved from the classes if you can finish them in time before it shows up on your insurance . best of luck!
