I would love to have one but I dont think I could pass the math part with algebra. What should I do.

I have Autism, ADHD, cerebal Palsy. They put in main stream classes here in one city and the other I was in special ed the whole time.

  1. Yes, it is a good idea to obtain your GED, and you are to be commended for wanting to complete your high school education.

There is a website called "Free-ed.net."  You can study for your GED absolutely free.  Once you have studied, you can then find out where to take the test.  The link to the website is below:

    http://www.free-ed.net/free-ed/ProgClust...

    I hope this is helpful.

  2. GO for it.

talk to people that can help you reach your goals.

Forget about the freaks that answer so rudely on here.

There are ways to reach for the stars.... Grab a few along the way.

    Best wishes

  3. Do not listen to TommyS.

I passed the GED when everyone told me

I did not have a chance of doing so.

    Go for it.

  4. I am disgusted at what this "Tommy S" wrote if he is really a teacher - sounds more like a bum.  There were some good suggestions regarding contacting your local school system and or local community college - both are great ideas.  There should be links to both on the net if you do a web search for them.

    Good Luck!!!

  5. If you go to the community college, they offer college prep classes that are non-credit.  These classes assist persons with special circumstances and who need a little additional assistance.  Many of them are self-paced.

The community college has a department called the TRIO department.  It is government funded for students with learning disabilities and also provides tutors at no cost to the student.  Go to the TRIO office FIRST and they will assist you through the entire enrollment process and help assess your specific situation.

  6. I am 40 years old and I went back to school, and I got my high school diploma. And I am a slow learner if i can do it so can you. I got it May 5, 2000. It is never to late..

  7. By all means take the test.  You have nothing to lose and my gut tells me you'll pass with no problems.  Bettering yourself will only work in your favor.

  8. if you have all these mental problems then how can you type so well?

is it just a mild form? because some people with autism and cerebal palsy are MESSED UP.

anyways, i say go for it.

  9. Talk to the GED administrators in your district/area about your concerns. Get a good study book from a book store (or the library) and study, study, study. Take and retake the practice tests. Don't rush into the test. Take your time to study for it. There are probably adult education GED prep classes available to you. Look through the local phone book...call the school district...call the adult education centers....if all else fails call the community college closest to you. I'm sure you will find that there are plenty of people and places with plenty of help and answers for you to succeed in obtaining your GED.

  10. im sure someone in your community would be willing to help you "study up" for the math part. try a school or ask at the library...im sure with a little practice you could pass it which would open some opurturities!!!! good luck

  11. No. It's never to late to get a GED.

  12. You can do it and you should do it! Don't listen to this 1st idiot, I doubt he's even really a teacher. You might have been in special education but that doesn't mean you can't learn or be successful. For the math section, preparation and practice will get you far. Good luck to you!

  13. Given the diagnoses you gave us you may even qualify for certain types of help for the test. An example my cousin has severe dyslexia she took the ACT and bombed out.She went to a councilor at the college and they told her she didn't qualify to go there based on her scores but after talking to her realized her problems and helped her retest this time some one read the test to her and she did well enough to earn a full scholarship! I say go for it talk to the administrators and tell them how you feel and whats going on and they may  be able to help you get it ! GOOD LUCK!

Added look into some high school home school courses you may find a wealth of information also www.mathusee.com if you go there and find what books you need you can generate worksheets and answer sheets you can work on for extra practice

  14. Go for it. You're only limited by the limits you put on your self.

You can also take Prep classes. Have some faith in your self.

  15. Just don't have kids.... Special Ed kids s***w up the educational process.  They waste the teacher's time.  They cost WAY too much money with extra aids, etc.  They should be home schooled or have a special school for them.  ALL the teachers complain about the number of "special" students that are disrupting our already filled to the brim classes.   The illegal aliens, the gang members AND the special ed kids make teaching almost impossible.

  16. Here is a website that should help you.

GED practice test, GED information, testing locations, fees, GED requirments, preparation.
