i'm in nsw, don't really want to spend too much ($2000 max for old) but brand new versus second hand would be contributing factors. i like the sports style bikes, just don't know anything about them.

  1. try road trail type bike easy learn on and ride 185-250 cc engine

  2. a 250cc Ninja is a blast of a bike to ride. A 500cc is not much harder but a bit heavy. The 250 is a mosquito

  3. Man 2000 will limit you alot. You wont get any thing new for that, i dont know about dirt bikes.

There are zzr's etc that you might afford for the 2000, but who knows condition. But yeah alot of bikes dont have heaps of probs.

  4. Suzuki SV650 is a great bike you can learn on and you won't get sick of quickly

  5. I highly recomend a kawasaki gpx250. I have a 1998 model. I am 187cm and 140kg. It hauls my *** around. I've had it up to 150km/h. It has a low seat height and low weight.

Parts are easy to come by. Easy to work on. Good on fuel.

    Cheap rego and insurance.

Another good secon hand bike is the Honda CBR250rr. They have a good following and look ok too. Has a more sporty seating position than the GPX.

There's also the Suzuki Across. It is an excellent bike also. It has a fake petrol tank where the tank usually is. It's a little boot for your helmet or groceries and the actual petrol tank is under your seat.

Or you could get away with a Honda CBR125. They are around $4000 new. They have fuel injection and they look pretty d**n good. Only a top speed of 110km/h though.

Another new bike is the SACHS KN150 Express? It isn't sporty looking but it is only $1999 +onroads. Motorcycle Trader just did a review on one.

I'm in south australia by the way.

Your best bet is to get your licence and go try a few out.

    Good luck

  6. go to sporting store and consult with an employee there.
