I'm 27 years Old, Ive been working for about 8 years.....

Question

I make Roughly 45,000$ a year. How does this compare with the national average for my age group? Am I doing ok? (Average Home Price in My Area is 100k.......)

Seems like you are making a good salary to me.  If average houses in your area are also decent houses... sounds like you should be able to afford one easily, unless you suck at finances.

Yes you are doing great. I know many people in their late 20's who make just over 20K a year. And I also know plenty that make nothing.

At your age, yes, $45,000 a year is a good salary. Some people work their entire lives and never approach that.

First of all you cannot look at the national average since a lot of areas have much higher expenses.

You can look at average salaries for your area if you do a quick search on yahoo or google.

I agree salary.com is a good starting point as well you can put in your job and area and see the pay range. I have found you may want to go under by a few thousand less than what they say.

If the average home price is $100k you are doing extremely well for any age. As long as you watch your finances and invest properly you should do well in the future.

Hey your doing alright.

My hubby and I make gross of $55,000.00 last year together and guess what ...I am friggin 36 years old and always since 15 years of age been a friggin blue collar, nose to the grind stone worker for friggin beans.

I make the same amount and im 26, but i have had this same question, if you need reassurance tho try checking out jobs on monster and see what alot of those that you qualify for are paying. I live in fl so the home prices are higher so its just renting and roommate time for me

Oh yeah try getting a roommate if you dont have one already, easy way to save money
