My last baby was 10+ pounds, so they are a little worried. They won't induce me early unless they can prove the lungs are developed (so they want to do the amnio). I hate the idea of a giant needle in my stomach. He mentioned being concerned about shoulder dystocia. He said the other option would be to wait until full term and have a c-section. I don't like either choice. Anyone naturally go into labor early because their babies were too big?

  1. I too was told at 34 weeks that I was expecting a 7.2 pound baby. This is my 4th pregnancy. From my experience from the other kids and their u/s the weight estimate was off. I was told my first son would be 9.8 pouns but was born at 39 weeks at exactly 8 pounds. I was told that my second son was an average 7 pounder, yet he was born at 39 weeks and his weigh was 8.8 pounds. It does not feel like a big baby nor does my belly look like I am carrying a big baby. The first thing you should be convinced about is ensuring the u/s is even correct since that's all they are going on. Sometimes an amnio can bring an uterine infection and bring labour. When it comes to pregnancy follow your gut especially if you have had children. Most important do research on your own. A c-section is serious abdominal surgery with it's own risk and not to take lightly because it has become to common place in this country.
