I have started taking my medication twice a day instead of only once. My arm also goes a little numb at night when i'm sleeping.

  1. This COULD be Diabetic Neuropathy.  But if you were not diabetic before you were pregnant, I don't think you have been diabetic long enough to develop that serious of neuropathy.

Diabetes WILL, though, cause Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. The numbness at night sound more like CTS than neuropathy.

But I'm not a doctor, so you need to see your doctor for a better diagnosis.

DONOT CHANGE YOUR MEDICATION, STOP A MEDICATION, OR CHANGE DOSAGE WITHOUT CHECKING WITH YOUR DOCTOR FIRST.

Diabetes has been shown to have a link with miscarriage and birth defects.  You MUST keep your diabetes under control!

BTW: If it IS CTS, you might try 200mg of vitamin B-6 daily.  But check with yourdoctor before you do that.

  2. it could be a stroke. that happened to my grandmother (fingertips going numb) and it turned out she had a stroke

  3. Call your doctor. Do not just double you medication without approval from your OB/GYN. It could have adverse effects on your baby. It could also not be related to your gestational diabetes.

  4. The numb arm at night is common in pregnancy, and it may not be related to the diabetes at all.  But no matter what, you need to be in touch with your doctor asap to rule out something serious.  Like others have said, don't change your medication unless you have been instructed to by your doctor.
