Question:

I'm 38+ weeks pregnant and I have symptoms of mastitis?

Is this possible? I came down with fever and flu-like symptoms the other night. While those have pretty much cleared up, the redness and tenderness, not to mention hardness of my breast, have not. I called a lactation consultant and she said she'd never heard of it before in women who hadn't yet given birth, but she thought I had mastitis. If so, any relief you can recommend until I'm able to talk to my doctor on Monday?

Help, I'm lost. Thanks in advance!

  1. Hello, i have not heard of this either but my sister in law gets her milk before she gives birth. She has not had mastitis before birth but her milk is leaking. So i guess it is possible. The only think i can think of is put cabbage leaves in your bra, this is said to extract milk. And as often as you can get in the shower and warm your b*****s up and massage the hard lumps toward the nipple and get the clogged milk out. This is what i did when i had mastitis.
