  1. Yes you can!  First find a masters swim club to join and you will get information from them about upcoming meets.

  2. Most masters' swim meets are casual, fun affairs. Most meets are small and seed swimmers soley by time (ages and sexes are mixed together). If you are 48, you are technically competing in the 45-49 age group, but you will likely be surrounded by people both much older and much younger than you.

To compete you need a US Master's Swimming license. You can buy it per calendar year, or buy a single-event license right there at the meet.

Masters swimming is more fun with other people. Find a local masters program here:

    Good luck! It's fun!

  3. You can practice on your own, show up at a masters meet, pay your entry fee and register as 'unattached.' But finding a club is a much better solution.

  4. well, you can it depends upon your abilities if you are flexible or not or even athletic, at this age  nearly anyone can do swimming only if you have full experience and knowledge so if somethimg goes wrong
