Im about -6.00 in both eyes. Its really hard sometimes thinking that people can naturally see objectes miles away when I can bearly read the paper. For all those who have a similar presciprtion - what do you plan on doing ; staying with glass/lenses, lasik, ICL?

Just interested to know

  1. I am -6.00 in one eye and -5.5 in the other. I play adult baseball and coach basketball. It is not that big of a deal for me, but I do look forward to lasik so that I can be free of them once and for all.

  2. I don't know, the doctor didn't tell me, but I can't read the board, recognize people's faces and read the street signs from far away.

  3. I'm blind in one eye, and a +5.0 in the other.

I wear a contact lense in my sighted eye, but as I was born this way I don't feel disadvantaged at all.

I have a university degree and I can drive a car, so it doesn't really affect me at all.  And unless I tell someone, no one would ever know.

There are so many other worse things that could have happened to me, I am just grateful for what I've got and don't dwell on what I haven't.

  4. I start at -7.00 in the best meridian of my best eye, and go up to -13.50 in the worst meridian of my worst eye.

I've tried several contact lens designs, and despite several adverse factors: deep anterior chamber, oblique astigmatism, large pupils... we solved all the technical problems.

It was then I decided that I really couldn't be bothered with them, and decided to stick with glasses.

I built some ultra-secure ultra-large contacts for windsurfing,

but since I wrecked my knee and had to give that up, I haven't worn any.

In another five years, when my accommodation is finally gone, I will probably pre-empt cataract surgery and have my crystalline lenses replaced while they are still clear, to get my Rx down to the -2.00 to -3.00 region, handy for reading without glasses.

It's a recognised route for people with my degree of Rx.

I'm way off being a good lasik candidate, even if I considered the risks acceptable. (personally, I don't.)

  5. i was -800 and now off spect all thanks to lasik.

  6. im -3.75 i will most probably go for lasik once it reaches 6.00, but hoping it wont.
