My boyfriend smokes in the house & closes all doors so it's not around me, but I can still smell the smoke when I enter the room when he's done. Will this harm our unborn baby?

  1. well Lot's of things can potentially harm your unborn baby. no proof has been given that this will.....but why risk it.... i think him being in a different room is enough of a precaution. the smell of smoke is not harmful. that is Oder molecules clinging to furniture.not tobacco smoke itself.

  2. Second hand smoke is just as harmful as actually smoking yourself.

It would be a good time for him to get in the habit of smoking outside because once baby arrives smoking inside should become a big no no.

At this point in your pregnancy it is too early to have damaged the zygote. But once the zygote turns into a fetus second hand smoke causes low birth weight babies. Second hand smoke is also linked to prematurity and prematurity can be fatal.

  3. yes, second hand smoke is extremely dangerous to an unborn child AND for you AND for your baby when it comes into the world.

You need to set your foot down and tell him to quit, or at least to take it outside. Maybe tell him to quit because you dont want him dying and want him around for the baby.

  4. right now it shouldn't have done much if any harm, it's later on when the baby's lungs are developing that you really have to worry.

  5. Yes- tell him to smoke outside. It's the least he can do!

  6. He needs to smoke outside.  A closed door will not keep the smoke away.

  7. Tell him to get outside with that. Especially since it is summer. Explain to him exactly what second hand smoke can do to you and your unborn baby. Maybe that will be enough to get him to take it out-side.

  8. Yes...it can if it continues. My husband used to smoke inside..until i found out I was 5 weeks pregnant. Then I made him go outside to do it. It wont kill him to do that...he'll just have to get used to it.

  9. it should still be early enough that it didnt harm it yet, but just tell him to go outside and smoke that c**p or not do it all..

cus it could affect the baby very easily.
